Shyampal, a resident of Hasnapur village, installed a motor for the convenience of filling water from the hand pump installed in his house, but the same motor proved fatal for his wife Ranna Devi and nephew Vivek Singh. On Friday, while filling water by turning the handle, Ranna’s hand touched the wire of the motor, due to which she got electrocuted and she fell down after struggling. Vivek ran to save her but he too got electrocuted and by the time they were taken to the hospital, both of them died. The team of the Revenue Department also inspected the spot.
Shyampal had a motor installed to draw water from the hand pump in his house. Additionally, when the need is less, family members can also draw water by turning the handle. On Friday afternoon, his wife, Ranna Devi, went to draw water and while turning the handle, her hand touched the motor’s wire. She fell to the ground.Seeing her struggling, his nephew Vivek, who was some distance away, ran over. But in his haste, instead of turning off the power, he tried to lift Tai, resulting in an electric shock. Family members immediately cut off the power supply. They removed them from the wire and took them to the hospital, where the doctor declared them dead.Vivek Singh was pursuing an ITI degree. His father, Sonpal, was a laborer. He was the only brother between two sisters. His mother, Neetu Devi, was devastated by his son’s death. The dreams she had hoped for a better future by educating him were shattered in an instant.
Ranna Devi’s death left her 16-year-old son, Sachin, without a mother. When administrative officials learned of the deaths of her aunt and nephew, a team from the Revenue Department was dispatched to the scene. A detailed report is being prepared.
