Uttar Pradesh road accident: At least 12 people died and nine got severely injured after a truck turned turtle on top of a bus in the Khutar Police Station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur.  Ashok Kumar Meena, SP, Shahjahanpur said, ” Around 11:00 pm, we got the information that in the Khutar PS area, a bus was parked, devotees who were going to Purnagiri were sitting inside the bus and some devotees were having food at a Dhaba. A truck lost control and turned turtle on top of the bus in which total 11 people died and 10 were injured. All injured have been admitted to hospital”. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar Meena told the media that the incident happened on Saturday night at Hajiyapur under the Khutar police station when the bus had halted at a roadside restaurant on its way to the temple. As the devotees from Sitapur waited inside the bus, a dumper truck carrying gravel lost control and overturned on the vehicle, he said.

Smoke reportedly emerged from the operation theatre, causing eye irritation and breathing difficulties among patients and attendants. Shahjahanpur: Panic broke out at the Pt Ram Prasad Bismil Government Medical College in Shahjahanpur on Saturday evening after a suspected gas leak from the operation theatre led to a sudden release of formalin fumes, a chemical commonly used for preservation in medical settings. Around 4 pm, thick smoke was seen rising from the OT, causing discomfort to patients and attendants. Several people reported burning sensations in their eyes and difficulty in breathing, prompting an emergency evacuation of wards. According to hospital staff, the fumes were likely caused by a leak of formalin gas, leading to a stampede-like situation inside the facility. One tuberculosis patient reportedly died due to shock during the chaos, a family member claimed. Fire department teams arrived at the spot and carried out special spraying operations to neutralize the gas effect. Most people inside the hospital were seen wearing masks as a precaution. The hospital administration has since claimed the situation is under control, though the exact cause of the leak is still under investigation.

The SP personally visited the mishap site and oversaw the process of identifying the deceased. He added that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations and confirmed that both rail and road movement in the area have since been fully restored. “Around 6.30 pm, a passenger train coming from the direction of Lucknow hit the motorcycle as it reached the down line, resulting in the death of all five occupants on the spot,” PTI quoted Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi as saying. Police identified the victims as Sethpal (40), his wife Pooja (38), their two children aged four and six, and Sethpal’s brother-in-law Hari Om (45). All of them were residents of Vanka village in Lakhimpur district, according to the SP. The family was travelling back to Vanka when the mishap occurred. SP Dwivedi said that the husband and wife were most likely returning together after visiting Hari Om in Nigohi village. Police said the incident took place when the teenager, Tushar, was riding his motorcycle across the railway tracks. “The incident took place around noon, when the youth was trying to cross the railway tracks. He fell when his bike slipped while crossing the track, but as he got up to remove his bike from the track, he was hit by a train,” Dadri Police Station in-charge Arvind Kumar told PTI.
